the Coffee Break Fund

Although the Boss' Day holiday calls for annual celebration, there's another tedious yet functional office-based occurance that should be highlighted as well : office member birthdays. A cube-dwellers birthday should conveniently be recognized - before their first coffee break of the day begins, if possible. Although some seem to have the beautiful knack for remembering several co-worker birthdates, others may easily forget their own. A cafe-commuter that shares cube space of your workshift floor may have hopes of joining in on the festivities as well. Everyone is important. It is possible that a number of people would tumble into their cube in the morning, to discover the day's personnel perspective has already begun -- then make plans of a nifty celebration. Nonetheless, whether they have planned for the upcoming coffee break or not - it approaches. So, If the next bDay gala should slip your memory before that day's coffee break starts - here's a little cube protection plan to ensure at least your celebratory cup of Java is safe. Firstly, remember-- unless they actually make accurate use of their desk calendars, lots of cube-dwellers forget their birthday dates until that morn. But, wherever a cup of Java rests - there is happiness.
1. Call upon other co-workers to form a Coffee Coalition of consistent participation (annual cycle). Mark an office calendar with each participator's birthday. Throughout the year, each participant drops spare change of dimes and quarters into an appropriate jar (the monies are distributed w/each contribution).
2. Write the name of each participant onto a styro-cup, along w/their favorite saying : Have a Happy Java BDay! On the participants' date of celebration -- he/she will equally enjoy an accumulated earning of the Coffee Coalition designation. A styro-cup will sit on their desk to remind them that even small tokens of kindness and appreciation could refine a necessary office space refreshment. If a few quarters and dimes could in some way rescue a mid-morning tummy attack or silence a stomach squelching serenade for  fellow cube co-workers - then all last-minute efforts are well worth it. Celebrate the Day!
3. Decorate the cup _ inside & out or not at all.
Step two : fill the cup w/everyday door prize candies or gift cards to purchase a Latte @their favorite cafe.
* Take a picture & relive the memory every year. However you choose to highlight your personnel efforts during the next coffee break time - don't forget to Have a Happy Java Day! MB
